This month, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is organizing a lecture series entitled The Renaissance Beyond Italy. Four lectures by independent art historian Elizabeth A. Anderson will deal specifically with the masters of Fifteenth-Century Flemish Painting as well as the Flemish influence in other regions in Europe:

• Lecture 1: What Is (What Do We Mean by) the “Northern” Renaissance?
• Lecture 2: Masters of Fifteenth-Century Flemish Painting
• Lecture 3: The Flemish Influence Farther North: Swiss, German, English Art
• Lecture 4: The Flemish Influence in Spain and Portugal

Lecture dates:

Thursdays: February 2, 9, 16, and 23, 3:00-4:00 p.m
Saturdays: February 4 and 18, 1:30-3:45 p.m
