Minister Demir signs agreement with US Environmental Protection Agency
Yesterday morning, Flemish Minister of Justice and Enforcement, Environment, Energy and Tourism, Zuhal Demir signed a Statement of Intent with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Through enhanced bilateral cooperation, Flanders and the EPA will improve environmental enforcement and tackle environmental challenges.
The Flemish Minister of Justice and Enforcement, Environment, Energy and Tourism, Zuhal Demir, represented The Flanders Environment Agency (VMM), Public Waste Agency of Flanders (OVAM), and Department of Environment and Spatial Development of Flanders, Belgium. With the Statement of Intent, Flanders and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) aim to improve institutional capacity through cooperation and the exchange of information on environmental enforcement and compliance assurance issues related to chemicals.
The Statement of Intent is of mutual interest, as both countries face similar environmental challenges and share common public health values and goals. This includes enhancing air quality management, promoting environmental enforcement, enhancing innovation and the use of digital technologies to tackle environmental challenges. Resulting from the enhance bilateral cooperation, Flanders and the EPA will tackle environmental challenges and improve environmental enforcement.
