Young artists will give everything for applause... In Kein Applaus für Scheisse Florentina Holzinger (AT) and Vincent Riebeek (NL) are flirting with the limits of everything that is possible on stage, referring to the canon of 1970’s performance art. The result is a surprising portrait of contemporary pop culture’s rich tapestry: an intangible mixture of dance, trashy pop, theatre, roller skating interludes, acrobatics and performance. A choreography that constantly risks losing its balance when one of the two performers flagrantly tries to hog the stage for the closing
applause.

Kein Applaus für Scheisse is the first performance of a trilogy by Florentina Holzinger and Vincent Riebeek. The second performance of that trilogy is Spirit, the last one is Wellness.

Florentina & Vincent & CAMPO

Florentina Holzinger (AT) and Vincent Riebeek (NL) met each other in the School for new dance development (Amsterdam), and immediately started creating together. Kein Applaus für Scheisse was a first outcome of their collaborative sessions, generated within the school context. Kein Applaus got picked up by a number of young makers festivals (a.o. Bâtard Brussels & TAZ Oostende), which lead to some residency invitations (a.o. Workspace Brussels, NONA Mechelen, Frascati Amsterdam), that the duo used to start generating new material. Different scenes, songs, moments and dances came out of those residencies; some were added to Kein Applaus…, but a lot of material remained unused. Florentina & Vincent asked CAMPO for a residency to collect all this material in one show, which resulted in Spirit, first shown in Gent in October 2012.
