Kaat Beel’s film Hotel Swooni will be featured at the Chicago International Film Festival (October 6 to 20, 2011). Hotel Swooni is the upscale Brussels venue where the lives of half a dozen troubled, yearning characters intersect for 24 hours during a summer heat wave in an overly familiar, formulaic drama so contrived, it's practically impossible to suspend disbelief and be moved by their plights. Following a local art house release, Flemish director Kaat Beels' feature debut will segue into home-viewing formats. Hotel Swooni will be shown on Wednesday, October 12, Thursday, October 13, and Monday, October 17.
