
STEFAN HERTMANS at The New Literature from Europe Festival
Stefan Hertmans (Belgium, 1951) is the internationally acclaimed and prizewinning author of many literary works, including poetry, novels, essays, plays, short stories and a handbook on the history of art. For more than 20 years he was a professor at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. He also was a guest professor at the Universities of Vienna, Berlin, Mexico City, London and Paris, and at The Library of Congress in Washington. His novel, War and Turpentine, was awarded the prestigious AKO literature prize in 2014. It has sold more than 200,000 copies in its home country and has been translated into 15 languages.
Join us in welcoming internationally acclaimed Flemish author Stefan Hertmans in New York City on the occasion of the upcoming New Literature from Europe festival.
Stefan Hertmans will be participating in 3 events throughout the city:

-on December 8, at the ASF + Scandinavia House
-on December 10, again at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe

On December 10, the festival closes with a finale reading by Salman Rushdie.
